I’m sharing recipes and tips on being frugal while polishing up my photography and creative writing skills. There’s an occasional spiritual discussion, a book review here and there, and probably more pictures of my dog than are strictly necessary. It’s part chat with a girlfriend over a glass of sweet tea, part conversation overheard in the grocery store checkout line, and part Thanksgiving dinner with the crazy branch of the family.

Your Mission ~ Decipher This Recipe

Today was kind of a crappy day. I was in a lot of pain, and when I went to see my doctor he referred me to a program that is either a group of miracle-workers or a last-ditch dumping ground for "failure patients". I'll find out next week. (Documentation Based Care - anyone done this? Anyone?) Anyway, there were two bright spots. One was a couple of videos a friend shared with me. If you haven't already seen the news report from Alabama and the subsequent YouTube rap, here they are:

I laughed until I though I'd die - mainly because this happened in Alabama instead of Kentucky for once! And then I was discussing ice cream recipes with a co-worker who just happens to have bought the same awesome ice cream maker I recently purchased. I printed up a fabulous banana ice cream recipe and took it up to him while he saw a new consult in the ICU. He wrote me out his favorite vanilla and chocolate ice cream recipes and I promised to email him a link to my aunt's fabulous blackberry sherbet recipe. Here is the recipe he wrote out for me:

Why, yes, this friend IS a doctor - how did you guess? The prescription pad was the only paper I had in my lab coat pocket, but I think I might need a pharmacist to decipher this before I make it. Just kidding - he walked me though it and I know what the illegible parts say. Can you figure it out? I hear it's worth it for a delicious sugar-free dessert! What were the bright spots that got you through this week? Link up to Feel Good Friday and share :)

Sorry, I forgot something. The Banana Ice Cream recipe is the best I have ever had. I've made it twice and am waiting for bananas to ripen to make it again.

It's Xylitol, of course.

And, it's funny, because I knew EXACTLY who that chicken scratch belonged to as soon as I saw it.

Love the man, but he can't write for diddly.

Dianna is right, it's definitely Zylitol. Your aunt's blackberry sherbert sounds lovely. Hope you are feeling a bit better!

I love ice cream! I'm going to have to make the blackberry sherbert this weekend - I happen to have blackberries on hand! Thanks for sharing!

Rainbow sherbert is my favorite. I have been having one scoop every night this past month. It is fat free so it is practically healthy.

Tyler disagrees.

I am sorry you are having so much pain. I don't know what that kind of group is.

The best part of my week is that Emily left on Sunday to go to her dad's for 2 weeks :-( I have been missing her like mad and today I got 2 letters from her!!! It made my entire week!!! It was such a surprise!
